400-mt long Tunnel running between India and Pakistan found in Jammu

Jammu: A tunnel running between India and Pakistan at the international border in the Samba sector of Jammu has been found by a Border Security Force (BSF) patrol.

The tunnel, dug at a depth of 25 feet, was detected after an area caved in due to rains near a BSF outpost. It is still not clear whether the tunnel was operational or not, but the tunnel seems freshly constructed and had an air supply pipe as well.

"Last night when the troops were patrolling, they found that the land had caved in. Initially they thought this could have been caused by water, then the night set in and the troops could not do much, but to remove the suspicion, we got heavy machinery here and started digging, after digging 12 feet we found a tunnel which is from the Pakistani side, we don't know where its opening is from the Indian side, we have been searching the area with the help of police and Army but so far we have not been able to find the exit on the Indian side," said NS Jamwal, Deputy Inspector General, BSF.
"I was going in my fields when I found the land caved at a place. I informed the BSF... they dug the area and found that it was a tunnel," said a local farmer.
