Intl community not recognized Pak sacrifices in war against terror: PM

Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has said the Asian countries will have to work in coordination to ensure sustainable socio-economic development of the region.
He was addressing Boao Forum in China. Over two thousand business leaders belonging to Public and Private sectors from all over the world are attending it.
The Prime Minister said in the turbulent world of change‚ economic crisis is spreading worldwide. He said the Asian countries by enhancing cooperation in the fields of energy‚ culture‚ education and science and technology can overcome obstacles and pave way for sustainable development.
The Prime Minister said Pakistan played a role of front line state in the war against terror and suffered a lot economically. He said “Afghan Soviet war left bad impacts on our economy.”
He said Pakistan accommodated more than three point five million Afghan refugees. He said it is matter of concern that the International community has not duly recognized sacrifices in the war.
The Prime Minister said after taking power‚ the democratic government took difficult decisions to revive economy which include expansion in tax network and reduction in government expenditure.
He said to give boost to economic and trade activities in the region the government took measures to give most favored nation status to India besides signing new transit treaty with Afghanistan.
He said World economic recession and increase in international oil prices have also left bad impact on the economy of Pakistan.
He said effective legislation has been made to empower women besides launching Benazir Income Support Programme for the uplift of poor segment of the society.
About Pakistan's relations with China‚ he said it is strengthening day by day. He appreciated the role of China for the establishment of peace in the region.
